Frequently Asked Questions

These are the most common questions that people ask about Buds & Bees products

Q1. Why do you call your products 'skin food'?

We call it ‘skin food’ because it really is food for the skin, with all kinds of nourishing and healing properties.

What goes onto the skin gets absorbed into the body *(1), (2), (3) – so we offer beautifully pure products which are nourishing for our bodies.. Our products are naturally preserved with the highest quality essential oils, vegetable seed & nut oils and waxes.

Q2. How pure are your ingredients?

We source the highest quality ingredients which are as pure and as close to their natural state as possible. These are organic, biodynamic, wild crafted, raw, virgin and unheated etc. We use the highest quality and most ethical suppliers.  Occasionally we will offer a non organic ingredient alternative where the organic price might be prohibitive or where there is no organic product available – such as wild crafted essential oils.

Q3. Why does your product sometimes have a fluid on the top.

Some separation may occur with the creams as they are a natural product and we don’t use emulsifiers. This does not diminish their healing properties. Occasionally a little Aloe vera juice can seep onto the surface of the cream.  Just pour it away.

Q4. Are your products vegan?

No and yes! We use Biodynamic beeswax in our face creams and eye balms, but our facial oils and hand and body butters are vegan. We are looking for a natural alternative to beeswax in the form of a vegetable wax, but have yet to find a pure organic wax without chemical solvents.

Q5. How long do your creams last?

Creams last 3 months or longer. They don’t like heat but do not need refrigeration.  They benefit from being opened and used regularly. Body butters, facial oils, eye and lip balms last at least 6 months.

Q6. Why do you add Schuessler's tissue/cell salts?

Included in the Face Creams and Hand & Body Butters are Schuessler’s Cell Salts (Tissue Salts) – Calc Fluor and Silica – in very low potency.  Cell Salts increase the absorption of minerals, helping to restore and maintain healthy, beautiful skin and hair.  The addition of these remedies has no adverse side-effects and will not interfere with medical treatment or constitutional homeopathic treatment and they are not anti-doted by the essential oils.
